Library staff looks over the donations and chooses items enhance or replace the collection. The library get about 60% of their collection books from donations.
The Friends look over the what is left and place books in four different categories, which the help of some advanced technology.
Most go up on the shelves to be sold for for $1-12. These include a lot of textbooks, paperbacks, craftbooks, etc.
Books which are worth more or are collectible are either put in the special sale room which includes Western/Wyoming, autographed, and other topics which have proven to sell well -- this is a fun room to browse with gotten some real gems!
4) High dollar books (over $50) goes to an individual who sells the high dollar books on line and takes a small cut. We have increased the financial donation to the library because of this service.
5) Books that are worn or otherwise damaged beyond reasonable use or that have no value (biology textbooks from 15 years ago for instance-- not old enough to be interesting, too old to be useful) are recycled.
